fading echoesMike Sielski is the sports columnist for Calkins Media, a chain of daily newspapers in suburban Philadelphia. His columns are syndicated in The Bucks County Courier Times, The Intelligencer, and The Burlington County (N.J.) Times. Mike is also the co-author of How to Be Like Jackie Robinson: Life Lessons from Baseball's Greatest Hero. His most recent book is the true story of 2 Doylestown football players and their lives after 9.11.01, entitled Fading Echoes.

In a state that prides itself on hard-hitting gridiron epics, Doylestown, Pennsylvania, was home to the greatest high school football rivalry: the Central Bucks West, captained by senior fullback/linebacker Bryan Buckley, versus the Central Bucks East, led by senior lineman Colby Umbrell. Bryan and Colby would meet each other as opponents on the game field, but their dreams and devotion to their country led each of them to the conflict in the Middle East-Colby as an Army Ranger, and Bryan as a Marine. Only one would make it back to Doylestown. And nothing about them, their families, or their hometown's connection to football would ever be the same.

bezellia A store and area favorite Susan Gregg Gilmore returns to celebrate the release of her second novel, The Improper Life of Bezellia Grove. Set in Nashville, during the 1960's and 70's this book is sure to be discussed for years to come. Bezellia Grove is the oldest daughter of one of Nashville's most revered families. A family that has many secrets, perhaps with Bezellia's love of their African American handy-man's son being the biggest. This a a great book for those that loved The Help. Susan's first book, Looking For Salvation at The Dairy Queen, was our best selling adult fiction title of 2009. Susan will be joining us for an afternoon of tea and discussion.

tugger

Local authors Sandy Swann and her daughter Susan McKain worked together to create this adorable, comical picture book featuring Susan’s handsome and always hungry Irish Terrier, Tugger.  Since he was a puppy, Tugger has eaten anything he could reach, but he would never eat a pretzel. It became a family challenge, and the results are captured in Tugger.  A love of Lititz, family, pets, and home and community come through in their writing and in the colorful and humorous illustrations by Lancaster artist Regina Anderson.
